Jengi and The Magician come together for a new summer record ‘Things We Do’

Friday, 19 July 2024 – Tomorrowland Music and Selected. – two of dance music’s most esteemed record labels – have teamed up for an exciting collaborative EP, co-released through both imprints. For the fifth release, Dutch DJ & producer Jengi and Belgian house music legend The Magician have come together to unveil a new summer record ‘Things We Do’, capturing that warm summer feeling, well suited for any situation.

'Things We Do' is out now via all platforms.

Tomorrowland Music’s and Selected.’s collaborative EP is made up of a string of brand-new productions by some of electronic music’s finest talents. Leading up to Tomorrowland Belgium 2024, both imprints have unveiled five releases: ‘Heartbeat Slow’ by Astrality, Jyll and Dillistone, ‘Distraction’ by Nu Aspect and Jem Cooke, ‘Shining’ by Korolova and Ekko and ‘Heartache’ by Ferreck Dawn and Alex Mills and ‘Things We Do’ by Jengi and The Magician. During the first weekend of Tomorrowland, Tomorrowland Music and German label & playlist giant Selected. will be joining forces to co-host the iconic Crystal Garden stage on Sunday July 21, including performances by Astrality, Ferreck Dawn, James Hype, Jengi, Korolova, Meduza, Nu Aspect, Siege, The Magician and more.

Jengi: “It’s a track with a summer vibe, well suited for any situation. At a festival at daytime, a club at night time, or if you’re travelling or relaxing. You can hear my sound and the Magician’s sound. We both share some harmonic patterns in our music. When the piano is hitting you’ll hear the Magician’s part, it was his idea to build a track around that instrument. You can hear my twist when the vocal chops are entering and the classic m1 house bass / organ. We wanted to make a track with a buildup, something that doesn’t have a particular chorus or verses. It starts very minimal at the beginning but at each drop there will be added more sounds to it. It’s fresh and it has that warm summer feeling.”

The Magician: “We've been collaborating with Jengi on several ideas for a while now, and we're excited to introduce our latest track ‘Things We Do’. This song perfectly blends the nostalgic vibes of 90s house and trance with a fresh, modern tech-house twist. The infectious vocals highlight a timeless message: it's important to do things for love—and for love alone.”

About Jengi
​Dutch DJ and producer Jengi has steadily built an image as one of dance music’s most high potential new up-and-comers. In 2022, Jengi officially established himself on a global scale with the immensely infectious Bel Mercy. Initially picked up by Diplo through his Mad Decent imprint, footage of the head honcho playing the track soon went viral, amassing millions of views. Since its December 2022 release on Mad Decent and FFRR, Bel Mercy has seen astonishing success with over 100+ million streams, as well as a mind-blowing 1+ billion views on TikTok and counting. Aside from charting in Jengi’s native the Netherlands, Bel Mercy even entered the British top charts.

Jengi is internationally recognised for his capacities both as a DJ as well as a producer. First gaining traction through his Colors EP, followed by Sprinkles, Rare and Zombies, Jengi’s production skills soon caught the attention of a wide variety of key figures in the industry. His original works were soon succeeded by collaborations with Dutch hip-hop heavyweights FS Green and Bizzey on their House of Pablo bootleg EP, as well as remix work for Bazzi’s viral hit Mine and soon to be followed by a remix of Sam Gellaitry’s Assumptions.

With support from dance music’s brightest stars, from Fred Again.., Skrillex and Four Tet to Diplo, James Hype, Solomun and Tiesto, the 2023 season is looking like it will be a massive leap in the young artist’s career. Jengi is slated to perform at some of the world’s biggest stages, including potentially the biggest of them all, Tomorrowland.

About The Magician
​The Magician has firmly established himself as one of modern house music’s most celebrated names over the past decade. As a founding member of the iconic electropop act Aeroplane, he embarked on a solo journey in 2010.

From his groundbreaking remix of Lykke Li's "I Follow Rivers" to his latest collaboration with A-Trak on "Love On You", The Magician has continually enchanted the world with his infectious beats and magnetic stage presence. His multi-platinum remix of Lykke Li was a monumental achievement that earned him global recognition and a series of top ten hits. From there, he continued to captivate listeners with a string of successful releases, including “Sunlight”, “Shy”, “You and Me” and more recently “Hippies”.

In addition to his original productions, The Magician's made original remixes for artists such as Lykke Li, Vladimir Cauchemar, Polo & Pan, Sebastien Tellier, Clean Bandit, Years & Years, Yuksek, AlunaGeorge, Boston Bun, ZHU, and Tom Grennan who benefited from his transformative touch.

The Magician is also his own record label, Potion Records, a platform dedicated to championing the sounds he loves while defying conventional norms. Since 2017 Potion Records became a home for artists like The Aston Shuffle, TCTS, Jerge, warner case, Classixx and many more. His "Club Fever" EP, released in June 2022, showcased his versatility and creativity, featuring collaborations with esteemed artists like Kolombo, warner case, and Samaran. He also collaborated with Carl Chaste on their single ‘On My Body’ featuring Owlle.

Beyond his studio endeavors, The Magician's seminal Magic Tapes compilation series has become a cornerstone of dance music culture. The release of Magic Tape 100 compilation marked a significant milestone in his career, featuring collaborations with artists such as Boston Bun and Planningtorock, and solidifying his status as a tastemaker in the industry.

Having toured around the globe for the past decade, and mostly present in the US, The Magician performed in countless clubs and festivals, including Coachella and Primavera sound festival, Tomorrowland, CRSSD San Diego, Ushuaia Ibiza, Hideout Croatia, EDC Las Vegas, Warung in Brazil, Printworks London, Sound in Los Angeles, Audio in San Francisco and many more... He also hosts his own residency at Elsewhere Brooklyn for 5 years.

In 2023, The Magician achieved a successful US back-to-back Tour with genius producer A- Trak. They also released their first collaboration called "Love On You” featuring singer Griff Clawson.

In 2024, the magic of The Magician continues unabated. After more than 15 years on the music scene, The Magician chooses this year to unveil his first album “Voyage”, featuring several artists, and in which he has been keen to depict his world and the inspirations that accompany his journey.
