Symphony of Unity honors 30 years of Faithless’ Insomnia with the release of a grand orchestral rework
The sound of a generation, reorchestrated by a 50-piece orchestra
Friday, 5 December 2025 - Symphony of Unity reimagines the all-time dance classic 'Insomnia' by Faithless in a way like nothing heard before. Honoring its 30th anniversary, this orchestral rework tantalizes the senses and evokes goosebumps with its soaring intensity. Symphony of Unity unveils the track anew through a magical fusion of symphonic grandeur and electronic energy.
'Insomnia' is out now on all platforms.
Faithless’ 'Insomnia', released in 1995, quickly became a defining anthem of the mid-’90s club scene. The track climbed to No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart, topped the UK Dance Chart, and conquered national charts across Europe, cementing its place as a timeless electronic classic.
A musical crescendo: 'Insomnia' comes alive with beats and brass
Now, three decades later, 'Insomnia' returns reimagined on a majestic orchestral scale. The genre-blending ensemble Symphony of Unity transforms the iconic electronic anthem into a cinematic experience, fusing classical orchestra with the youth of electronic music. The release reawakens 'Insomnia' for a new generation while honoring its enduring legacy.
"Insomnia has been in the set since our very first show 10 years ago, so we've been very eager to release this version. The orchestration bundles all emotions, styles and rhythmic pulses of this classic - with that iconic silence before the drop. An absolute pinnacle for Symphony of Unity." - Kevin Houben - conductor
A cinematic worldwide debut
Premiered during Symphony of Unity’s live performances - including Tomorrowland, the UNITY shows at Sphere (Las Vegas, US), and a sold-out debut at Antwerp Expo (Belgium) - the orchestral rework of 'Insomnia' has already mesmerized audiences from festival stages to concert halls across the globe.
"This year we pushed boundaries both musically and show-wise. Many highlights, such as the 9 'Unity' shows at Sphere in Las Vegas, 'Freedom stage' at Tomorrowland, the release of our debut single 'Reload', and our very first hard ticket shows that we sold out made this year a resounding success. We were able to bring so many people together again with EDM and an orchestra. That's a tremendous rush!" - Lars van den Oever - percussionist
A majestic note in the score: album coming 2026
Following Symphony of Unity’s debut on Tomorrowland Music with a symphonic reinterpretation of the iconic dance anthem 'Reload' by Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash, this latest release signals that the journey is far from over.
"After some intensive recording sessions last year our first single 'Reload' appeared in November. Now, with the release of 'Insomnia,' we're taking the next step in this journey: our first album will come out in 2026. A very unique and deep collaboration of the whole team, from label to studio, truly brought this project to life." - Kevin Houben - conductor

About Faithless
As one of the world’s most iconic electronic music acts, Faithless stand in a class of their own. Across 30 years, they have created multi-platinum selling albums, numerous Top 10 singles, six Top 5 albums (three at No.1) both in the UK and Europe, sales in excess of 20 million albums and, in the world of streaming, flying up to 1 billion. Figures that reflect their position as a leading force in electronic music. Their historic achievements, powerful messaging, unforgettable live shows and musical innovation place them up as one of the greats…
Original members Rollo and Sister Bliss form the nucleus of Faithless, with a revolving cast of collaborators joining them to cultivate that unique alchemy that makes them one of the world’s most beloved electronic music acts. They were among the first to translate electronic music to the live stage, blending synthesisers with live instruments, poetry and singing, and leading the way for others acts to land festival headliner slots. Across their three decades in music, Faithless have maintained their global popularity without ever compromising their identity. A prime example that you don’t have to dilute your message, or your ethos, to achieve success. Topics they have covered include addiction, insomnia, political unrest, social justice and spiritual searching. They maintained the difficult balance between depth and accessibility, while elevating a culture that was often dismissed as purely hedonistic. Music to rave to, but with deeper layers and meaning. The Faithless back catalogue includes a long list of classics; ‘Reverence’, ‘Sunday 8pm’ and ‘Outrospective’ among them. Songs that epitomise the essence of the group’s spirit: revolutionary, transformative, unifying and captivating in every way.
With a new album representing this visionary outlook, Faithless once again channel the revolutionary spirit of rave into a project aimed to disrupt the status quo. Rather than unleash the whole album in one go, Champion Sound will be released in four distinct parts, across a period of a few months. In an era dominated by release cycles, it’s a sonic rebellion, an unflinching statement of intent and an antidote to the world’s ills. As they prime themselves for another groundbreaking chapter in their three-decade-long story, Faithless are just as potent, energised and dynamic as they ever were.
In 2024 they were back on the road, with a sold out European tour and headline dates at London’s Roundhouse and Brixton Academy, as well as their third appearance at Glastonbury. Performing to thousands upon thousands of fans, they proved they’re still very much at the top of their game. Of course, vocalist Maxi Jazz is no longer with us, and his contribution to Faithless will never be forgotten. He is still very much part of the Faithless DNA, with Rollo, Bliss and their band honouring his memory at their shows, and audiences showing their love for the man whose voice was intrinsic to hits like ‘God Is A DJ’, ‘We Come One’ and ‘Insomnia’.
The new album features Maxi’s last ever vocal appearance, which can be heard on Part 1 - Forever Free. This deeply personal track, which opens the album, encourages everyone to be “as completely you as anyone can be”. A wholly emotive amalgamation of influences, ‘Forever Free’ glides into ‘In Your Own Groove’, which is driven by funky house rhythms with soulful vocals (courtesy of Maxi’s best friend L.S.K.) and trance-esque layers. It’s a heartfelt start that will rouse the listener and lock them into the album’s beautifully diverse audio journey. This is followed by ‘Fugitive’, which Rollo describes as “if Pink Floyd or Spiritualized made house music’. It’s cinematic, emanating powerful frequencies that envelop the listener - undiluted Faithless at their big stage best. ‘Peace & Noise’ follows on and closes out the first installment of this four-part odyssey. The song, released as a single earlier in the year, features Suli Breaks, whose lyrical contribution is effortless yet powerfully delivered. “I wanna be forever free,” he states, providing a neat dovetail to see out the first quarter of the album with panache.
This is followed by Phone Number, where Faithless demonstrate their prowess, while also being playful - utilising the album format to tell a story over three interlinked pieces of music. Vocalists Nathan Ball and Amelia Fox, who join Faithless on their live shows, are the key voices on the 18-minute-long production. Across three distinct, perfectly blended chapters - ‘Meeting’, ‘Thinking’ and ‘Driving’ - Phone Number epitomises the creative ingenuity Faithless are known for. A true sonic trip; expansive, emotionally charged and full of twists and turns. We encounter sombre moments, where the energy is pensive, swathes of bright synth, warm textures, skipping percussion and the melodic downtempo finale. Epic is the word, as this auditory voyage reaches its stirring conclusion.
With the third part - Book Of Hours - Sister Bliss channels her love for orchestral music as Faithless pay homage to DJ Shadow’s beautifully delicate opus Endtroducing. Rollo also cites Cafe Del Mar’s compilations as inspirations for this extraordinary collection of compositions. Music you can lose yourself in, immersed deep in the vibrations and traveling through multiple dimensions of sound, as the strings dance with the breaks. Gentle keys pepper the build up towards a monumental crescendo, before we drop into an abyss of barely audible sonics. An opera singer’s voice triggers a wave of chills, as we’re gently guided to the serene conclusion of Book Of Hours. Magical.
Finally Champion Sound marks the fourth, and final entry. It opens with the first single from the album, ‘Find A Way’, featuring Suli Breaks. This one features a classic-sounding piano riff, evoking the spirit of 90s rave, underpinned by Suli’s contemporary spoken word. This is followed by an appearance by globally renowned singer, Bebe Rexha on ‘Dollars and Dimes’. A more radio-friendly feeling comes through with this production - Bebe’s vocals, along with a bouncy, drama-tinged house instrumental creating a piece of music that’s perhaps the album’s most readily accessible. ‘Champion Sound’ brings reggae and dub to the party with its jaunty bassline, Jamaican influence and catchy breaks. Emmanuel Jal does what he does best on ‘Emmanuel’, injecting the album with uplifting celebratory energy, excitement and warmth as we approach the very end. By the time we get to ‘Yes, I Want It Too’, featuring insightful and positive lyrics from Antony Szmierek, there’s a profound sense of elation, letting go and joy. Champion Sound is aimed squarely at the dance floor, a somatic invitation, designed to bring mind, body and soul into alignment as the album concludes with aplomb.
Faithless epitomise all that makes rave culture and electronic music so profoundly unique and essential to so many peoples’ lives. Champion Sound encapsulates their years in the game - thoughtful, experimental, daring and informed by over 30 years of experience. It’s music with meaning, an album that challenges the status quo and bucks against industry norms. Faithless never followed the rule book, and that’s why they’re so universally loved. They’re punk, they’re rave and they’re disruptors - leading the way for others to follow. Almost 40 years since rave culture exploded in the UK, Faithless still carry the energy and lineage of that time - peace, love, unity and fighting the powers that be. Foundational elements for creating a brighter future for us all…
